We as Brendan's parents felt our son's experience was a very positive one. It made him more aware of his abilities as a potential model and actor. The course has given him more confidence to accomplish his day to day life as well as exposing him to the world he is eagerly awaiting to persue in the very near future. My daughter, Devin, completed the John Casablancas modeling program in the fall of 2008 when she was 16 years old. She loved the JC classes, especially the runway class, as well as the teachers, and looked forward to going every Saturday. "Your son should be a model!" that's all I heard from friends and strangers. Knowing nothing about the modeling business except the negative that's portrayed on TV, I was sceptical but after a friend suggested John Casablancas I found myself searching in the yellow pages for a number and address. In 2005, my son Zachary attended the very enriching classes. I said to myself, " if nothing becomes of this at least the program will round him out as an individual. He was 8 then...now at 12 he has been with JC 4 years and has numerous jobs. A Friendly's Restaurant video and a photo shoot for Mass Mutual at the Rock Cats Stadium...Not to shabby! In addition to local CT clients, JC also introduced us to Generation in NYC. Zachary went rock climbing in Central Park for a shoot for Timberland, traveled to Brooklyn for Macy's and of course the Toys R Us Holiday Catalog too. (What kid doesn't want to be in Toys R Us!) In addition doors were opened for my daughter as well from a spot on "Rescue Me" with Denis Leary...(I was a little jealous that Denis wasn't carring me out of the burning building but then again I think I would have weighed him down a bit...LOL!) I graduated from JC RockyHill in 2006. I also work as an instructor at the agency, I started teaching a year and a half ago. I went through the program and received jobs within a few months and have been there for three years and they just placed me with an agency in New York Epic Models as well. JC is really good about placing their top models in other markets. Some agencies keep their models and don't try to help them move to bigger markets but JC has placed people all over the world. Lots of our models do a lot of work. We are a member of the Better Business Bureau so you can check them out. Also, we have been going strong since 1987. My experience taught me the foundation and self-confidence that I would need in order to perform professionally in any type of modeling job I was given. I also have done some acting work through the agency and the JC Centers are good about exposing you to a variety of facets of modeling and more. You are exposed to photography, makeup and hair artistry, the film industry, acting, walking on the runway, and you even learn about building a resume and communication skills. Modeling has been my full time career for the past six years, but my success is based upon my experience with John Casablanca's Modeling and Career Centers in Hartford, Connecticut. My late teen years and early 20's have been filled with a hectic whirlwind of travel to six continents and amazing bookings which include Cosmopolitan, Surface, YM, Glamour, Italian Elle, and many other prestigious magazines. I flip through my new editorials with intense anticipation and excitement because even after all this time, I still can't believe my career. I realize that if I hadn't started the program at the JC Center under the strong guidance of the owner, Tina Kiniry, I wouldn't have such amazing experiences to share. I met Tina when I was a shy and nervous fifteen year-old. I remember listening to Tina intently as she explained the Women's Professional Modeling Program as well as the opportunities that happened afterwards. I wasn't sure what I wanted out of modeling, but I thought I should investigate my options. I began classes shortly after the initial meeting and I was pleasantly surprised each week I went to the Center. It wasn't just about putting on make-up, taking pretty pictures or learning a runway walk. The classes were a wonderful self-discovery each week. Could I memorize lines for a TV ad? Yes! Could I get through a photo shoot? Yes! Could I ace a make-up final? Yes! I began noticing lots of changes in myself, such as raising my hand in school more often and making more of an effort to try new things. I had some excellent teachers at the Center. I still remember Joan, the make-up teacher's lecture on proper skincare, which I still follow to this day. I remember Walter, the photographer's advice on movement for the camera. I remember the staff and fellow models encouraging and supporting me throughout my entire career. My biggest champion, however, has been Tina. I am highly cognizant of how fortunate I am to have such an incredible manager. She always steers me in the right direction, values my opinions and even invites me into her own home whenever I am in Connecticut. Not many models at my level can boast such strong support from their mother agency. My experience through the JC Center has proven to be invaluable. I realize I owe a lot to the program that launched my highly successful career and I feel incredibly fortunate for taking advantage of the opportunities that came my way because of John Casablancas.

As a result, my self-esteem had been enhanced and I gained modeling etiquette that I've applied during jobs as well as in my daily life. School: John Casablancas in Berlin, Connecticut My daughter has been going to JC since she was approx. 7 yrs. old. She will be 13 yrs. old shortly. I can't say enough about JC. I have the upmost respect for both Tina and Nancy. They have been nothing more than professional, honest and most of all, caring to the children that they teach. The little ones right on up to the teenagers, get a chance to build self confidence, express themselves, and really get a chance to shine as an individual. Some of these children may not turn out to be a Meg Ryan, or a Tyra Banks, but they really seem to walk away with a different perspective about themselves. JC is my daughters "home office" as I like to say. They gave her an initial start, and now it's up to my daughter whether or not she chooses to continue. Never force your child, the decision can't be your "dream", it "must" be your childs. She has taken Comm.Acting & Improv classes, which has prompted her to take other classes as a result of Irene's teaching. Irene is just one of the excellent teachers at JC. It takes time to get jobs, and sometimes you go on quite a few auditions. But the kids learn that in life, you don't always get what you want, and they also learn that just because you do not get chosen, it does not mean that their is something wrong with you, it just that for that particular shoot, they were looking for a different look. JC teaches the kids that each and everyone is special in their own way, and that you just have to be patient, and of course it's all "timming". My daughter has done several things thru JC, such as Bullying Videos, Promo Training Videos, Photo Shoots, Catalogs, etc. She also has branched out into NYC with some commercials, fit modeling, breast cancer awareness ads, medical documentary, etc. Bottom line, is that the training, and the small price you initially pay, if your child enjoys it, the opportunities are endless and it's nice to be affiliated with an agency that puts the childrens interests first, and works with the parents. I graduated from the women's program at John Casablancas in Hartford in 2001. It was one of the best things I have ever done for myself. Before attending JC I was shy, didn't know how to wear makeup, and didn't have a big clue about fashion. I had low self esteem and never thought I would be good enough for modeling. Now, I know how to do makeup, I'm more aware of fashion and how to present myself and sometimes you can't shut me up, which could be a good thing or bad thing. My self esteem has greatly improved. In 2003 I had the opportunity to do a fashion show when Jennifer Lopez came out with her new line of swim wear. It was such an awesome feeling to know that I was modeling three different bathing suits designed by J. Lo. The fact that I got to keep them was a bonus. Since then I have done numerous different fashion shows. It was around this time that I also became an instructor at JC Hartford. The main thing that I teach is exercise. I have had former students come up to me and tell me that weeks after I taught them they are continuing with the exercises. It feels really good to know that I made an impact on someone's life. I don't regret my decision to come to JC. I would recommend it to anyone. It all comes down to having fun and with my experience at JC. I have never had so much fun! Having originally graduated from John Casablancas in 2000, I attempted to enter the modeling world young, painfully shy and quite unfamiliar with reality. Shortly after graduating from JC, I decided that modeling would have to take a back seat and college became a priority. Flash forward to 2009- as a much more experienced, outgoing, driven adult, I returned to JC on a whim, hoping to spice up life again. I remembered having been told that all JC graduates are welcome back for refresher courses, so I tested that theory and was amazed when I was welcomed back with open arms! I quickly started rebuilding a portfolio and attending refresher runway, makeup, acting and nutrition classes. I am currently a member of the JC Runway Troop, and once a month I have the wonderful opportunity to step out of reality with a group of friends who respect and share the same ideal. I highly recommend the model training classes at JC to anyone who has even tinkered with the idea of modeling and acting - if anything, it gives you a stronger sense of self respect, individuality, and the confidence to accomplish anything you put your mind to. I served in the Army for nine years fixing guns, trucks, and radios. The cost of Being All I Could Be was Using Up All I Had, the end result of which was a debilitating case of fibromyalgia. My nervous system stayed in a constant state of alarm, keeping me in excruciating pain from head to toe for years. Although I was only 30, the agony and exhaustion showed in my face. As I lay bedridden for months, thinking it might be all downhill from there, I decided I should get my photo professionally taken for memory’s sake before I completely lost my looks. While researching photographers, I came across John Casablancas Agency in Berlin/Hartford, CT. The cost was slightly more than that of the photographers, but included classes and a job potential. I had nothing to lose—I was a female who had worked in male-dominated fields my entire life, and felt these classes would provide good personal development for me, even just in learning to interact with other women instead of just standing around looking like a security guard. Enrolling in the Agency motivated me—although I had never looked worse, I decided to do whatever I could to not look a total pity by graduation. Brushing my once-bleached hair was too difficult, so I chopped it off at the jawline and dyed it to match the roots. I was unable to carry my own weight and used a walker, but I was determined to rebuild the strength and balance required to wear those great stiletto heels getting dusty in my closet. I bought a second-hand elliptical trainer and worked out every day that I was able, if only for five minutes at a time. In committing to that, I lost a pound a week for several months. By the time I had my first photo shoot, I was down to a size 8, my hair had grown in healthy, and I didn’t look half bad. The classwork was very good and gave me an understanding of the industry and its expectations, as well as a fair assessment of my skills, abilities, and areas needing improvement. The staff members were very gracious and took the time to answer all my questions. They set an excellent example of professionalism, courtesy, and subject knowledge, and made me feel as though I, too, could also achieve these levels with confidence. I used the training they gave me as a starting point, and with steady effort, now not only am I an instructor of runway, commercial acting, and communication skills at John Casablancas, I passed the baton and advanced several students from within my classes to the Runway Troupe and our Commercial Acting class. It's wonderful to help them achieve their dreams! For now, my fibromyalgia is in remission, and I am eternally grateful to JC’s for giving me a reason to get up, look in the mirror, and really focus on what I could do, instead of what I couldn’t. I pass this gift on to my students, help them identify and overcome their obstacles, and am thrilled to watch them transform from awkward or shy to competent and confident. A little while later, we got a call from Tina because she wanted to have a meeting with her. Right then and there in her office, I figured out that I had made the right decision in becoming a model. She, along with all of the teachers at JC were so nice to me and everyone else in our class. I also learned a lot from JC during the classes, like how to apply makeup, how to not be nervous in front of the camera, and, my favorite part, how to walk on the runway. My sister and I both got a call from Tina, saying that we had an interview with Joico/Iso hair products. It turns out that we both got the job! My hair style was totally different from normal. It was called Azura. So, I got bangs for the first time in my life, and the color was very dark. The next day after the show, I went to school and hardly anybody recognized me! I had a blast getting to know all of the hairdressers and other models. I really enjoy being a part of John Casablancas modeling agency!

My name is Avery and I attended modeling classes in Berlin, CT just before they moved to Rocky Hill, just over a year ago. Hello. My name is Ariana and I go to John Casablancas in Rocky Hill. I started about last September and ever since I've started, I've never wanted to leave. Like everytime at the end of class, I would say no, I don't want to leave, let's do some more runway or television commercials or whatever our class was that day. And of course, my teachers at John Casablancas have inspired me more than anything. But, who really inspires me most, and who I look up to, is Tina. Like my first day at John Casablancas, I was so nervous and scared because I didn't feel as if I was pretty as some of the other girls, but Tina once told me, "Your beauty on the outside doesn't matter here, what matters most is your beauty on the inside." I felt so much more comfortable hearing that from Tina, I was so excited to be coming back every Saturday for my class. But, John Casablancas itself, I feel, has given me courage and has transformed me from being this shy, little caterpillar and has turned me into a big, courageous butterfly. Now, I feel as if I can walk around town strutting my stuff without having to think about my beauty on the outside. And all this happened because of one very special place which I hope to still be doing business with in the future and getting to know more wonderful people there in the future, because I feel that when I am at John Casablancas, I feel as if we are just one big happy family.

My name is Viktoria, and even though I haven't been with JC for long, I can already tell how very serious and professional people are here. For example, the runway classes at JC are very good. I can compare the runway classes here to an Acting/Modeling school I went to in Manhattan. Here there is a special room for it, with the actual catwalk. Also, in that class the teacher tells you all of the ways you can walk, unlike in the other school I have attended. To me the most important thing is that the teacher is honest, she corrects you if you need to be corrected. At JC every thing looks professional and serious, which is awesome. Hey, I'm 16 years old and I took the Professional Modeling for Women's Course at John Casablancas Modeling and Career Center in Berlin, CT. I always thought I was too short to be a model. But a JC representative actually recruited me in a mall. She told me I don't have to be 5'10, size 00, blonde hair, blue eyes, to be a model, she said I have the cute and adorable look. She came up to me and told me to try it out. So I did. And I don't regret it. All my paychecks went towards the tuition and supplies, with some help from my parents. But it was all worth it in the end. I lerned things I never thought I would. And I'm good at them too. I don't even wear make-up on a daily basis, but I could apply it better than most kids my age. From the catwalk, to the photoshoots, I loved every aspect of the program. It gave me confidence and knowledge. Not just about modeling but about nutrition, communication skills, skin care, and much more. John Casablancas is not for everyone. But I recommend it to anyone who wants to raise their self-esteem, do local modeling on the side for some extra cash and fun (like me), or wants to become America's Next Top Model. John Casablancas is the place to begin. It goes from being you rschool, to your agency. What's better than that? My daughter completed the women's modeling program at John Casablancas, Hartford (Berlin). It is truly a school, as it actually teaches the students in depth about the profession that they have chosen to learn more about. Hi, my name is Danielle and I am a graduate of the Womens Professional Modeling Program of John Casablancas in Berlin, CT. I was discovered by John Casablancas when I was thirteen years old. At thirteen, I was constantly being approached by different modeling scouts, and never really looked into it. I figured me? model? At thirteen, I was going through that normal " tween" stage of self confidence issues, it seemed everyone saw the person I didn't believe I was. It wasn't until I was approached by John Casablancas that I really looked into the industry. My mother and I researched all the companies I had been approached by, and chose John Casablancas because of the very professional and caring atmosphere they possessed when I went in for my first interview there. After the interview, I quickly signed up for the classes there, and began a journey I never thought I would be on. The classes taught me so much about the industry, from proper make-up to manners, runway, and acting, most of all I truly learned about myself. That was three years ago, and since graduating I've had plenty of work including two health videos that will appear in high schools nationwide, a Eblens ad, a sport equipment catalog, and I was the hostess of a dvd for a toy that will appear in Walmarts and K-Marts nationwide. Throughout this rollercoster of success two absolutely amazing women have been there to guide me along- Tina and Nancy. Without them I don't believe I would have accomplished any of this. They are very professional, and very approachable, easy to talk to people. They even arranged for the owner of a New York City modeling agency to come to CT to interview me. Within days,I found myself in NYC signing a contract. Since then, I've been traveling to New York City on quite a few castings, and just discovered I got the job for a shoot for Princeton Hall Review/ Random House. If it was not for Tina, none of this would have been possible. She was there with me every step of the way and words can not describe the amount of respect and gratitude I have for her, Nancy, and the John Casablancas Agency. I graduated from John Casablancas - Berlin, CT from the Women's Professional Modeling Program in 2004. I was approached while being on a family outing one early fall afternoon. I have enjoyed working with the instructors and fellow models on so many different levels. My daughter, Diana, was discovered at a model search at our local mall organized and sponsored by Tina Kiniry and JC Hartford when she was 10 years old. Several big New York agencies were present at the event and within a week Diana was signed by one of them. Her first job, (within 3 weeks of being discovered and signed ,was a 4 day job for Ralph Lauren! ). We were totally new to the whole modeling process, and as exciting and exhilarating as the NYC experience has been, it is also a little scary. So many things to learn and evaluate, and Tina has been right there with us through the whole experience. In fact without Tina, I don't know that we could have made it sometimes! She has been a mentor, advocate.sounding board, guidence counselor, cheerleader and most of all....a caring, constant friend throughout Diana's career. Diana is 14 now , still modeling ,and in fact, hopes to make modeling a career as she gets older. Hello, I just took the modeling classes at John Casablancas, Hartford. It was such a great experience, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The instructors know a lot about the industry and they guided me thru every small step personally. The thing that I like the most is that I learned everything I needed to learn from skin care to communications to makeup to runway. I can also go back any time and take refresher classes. In fact, before my photo shoot, I was a little worried, but the photographer made me feel so comfortable, my pictures turned out great!! In short, it was an enriching experience. It didn’t only give me the skills necessary for modeling, but also boosted up my confidence.

Population demographics are changing. John Casablancas School in Hartford (Berlin) Ct recognizes this. As part of the baby boomer era, I appreciate their awareness. Now the industry needs to act on this knowledge, and promote models who are 50 years plus.It is not just the young anymore-the spending power is with the baby boomers. We are retiring early, and the kids are no longer at home! We are forging a new way of life, one that is healthier and more active. We are challenging the stereotypes and have greater expectations for ourselves, as we enter the third age. We need to be represented as vibrant and sexy. The modeling and commercial acting classes were fun! The instructors were helpful and paid attention to my specific needs, which are sometimes different than the needs of younger women. All the staff and the Director continue to be helpfuI and friendly-and they always recognize me by name. I look forward to their ongoing help in promoting a second career.
